NEW SUMMERFIELD — It is often difficult to beat a team that sinks nine treys in a game, but the Troup Tigers managed to do so on Tuesday.
The Tigers were able to work around New Summerfield's hot hand from behind the arc to post a 59-48 victory over the Hornets.
Troup wraps up the 2019 portion of its schedule with a 15-6 record.
The Tigers led 17-13 after one quarter of action, with the Hornets (2-12) cutting the Tiger lead to three points, 30-27, at the break.
Troup tallied 29 points in the second half compared to the Hornets' 21 to salt aw2ay the triumph at the New Summerfield Coliseum.
Kedrick Frazier, Grayson Driggs and Blake Wood wound up in double figures for the Tigers.
Frazier tossed in 18, followed by Driggs with 12 and Wood, who added 10.
Logan Womack scored eight points for the Maroon and White.
New Summerfield's Rylan Fickey dropped in a team-high 16 points, which included four bombs from beyond the arc.
Karson Andrade knocked down 19 points and drained a trio of 3-pointers for the Hornets.
Troup is scheduled to open District 16-3A play at 7:30 p.m. Friday by traveling to Gladewater for a date with the Bears.
New Summerfield will return to the court at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a non-conference game at Cayuga.
