Girl's state powerlifting: Devillier, Stewart finish in top 10

WACO — Four young ladies made the trip to Waco on Saturday to represent Jacksonville High School at the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Championship, which took place inside the Extraco Events Center.

Two of the Maiden lifters, Chloie Devillier and Karleigh Stewart, earned top-10 finishes.

Devillier finished in eighth place in the 97-pound weight class. She lifted a total of 605 lbs. (255-squat, 110-bench press, 240 dead lift).

Devillier was making her third appearance at the state meet. Last year she came in 13th place in her weight class.

Competing in the 114 lb. class, Stewart was credited with lifts totaling 570 lbs. (230-105-235).

Yanelly Barerra came in 14th place in the 181 lb. segment.

Barerra, working out of the 181 lb. division, had lifts totaling 840 lbs. (335-165-340).

Westbrook finished 19th in the 114 lb. weight group. She hoisted a total of 635 lbs. (245-130-250).

Westbrook qualified for state a year ago, but was unable to participate due to illness.

For Stewart and Barrera it was their first trip to state.
