FRANKSTON — Paul Gould's time as an assistant coach at Jacksonville ended almost before it start.
According to the Frankston Independent School District website Gould has been hired as the school's head football coach, replacing Kevin Chase.
Chase and Frankston ISD parted ways in mid June after it was learned that Chase was involved a federal lawsuit brought by a former student-athlete in the district (Moody Independent School District) that Chase was employed in prior to be hired at Frankston last July.
Gould, a Jacksonville High School graduate, will be Frankston's sixth head football coach since 2014.
Gould served as the athletic director/head football coach at Alto High School for the past five seasons. His teams compiled an overall record of 42-17, and qualified for the state playoffs each year.
In the last two seasons the Yellowjackets went 7-4 and 6-7, respectively, which prompted Alto school officials to reassign Gould, following the 2017 campaign.
Gould was named as an assistant coach at Jacksonville earlier this summer.
Currently his official title is interim Frankston ISD athletic director.
Gould could have the interim dropped as early as later this month when the Frankston ISD Board of Education meets.
