Indian round ballers win twice in Wagstaff Classic

Kameron Conwell scored 15 points and came down with seven rebounds on Friday when Jacksonville thumped T.K. Gorman 58-34 in the 66th Annual Wagstaff Classic, which took place at Tyler Junior College.

TYLER — Jacksonville split its games on Friday in the 66th Annual Wagsaff Classic, which took place at two gymnasiums on the Tyler Junior College campus.

The Indians opened up by blasting T.K. Gorman's Crusaders, 58-34.

In the nightcap Van outlasted Jacksonville, 59-53.

In its final affair in the classic on Saturday, the Tribe saddled All Saints with a 69-43 loss.

In the win over T.K. Gorman, Jacksonville out scored the Crusaders 21-1 in the third period, to move ahead 43-23.

The game was tied at 22 at intermission after T.K Gorman had raced out to a 13-8 lead after one frame of play.

Kameron Conwell's 15 points and seven boards, along with Vito High's 11 points, ignited the Indians to victory.

Jonathan Denman and Devin McCuin netted eight points each for Jacksonville.

In Saturday's game against All Saints Desmond Fuller paced the Tribe with 21 points, which included four triples.

Amad Juan Menefee pitched in 10 points, followed by High with nine and JaModerick Sherfield with seven.

Each of the nine Indians that saw action scored at least two points in the tilt.

High (14), McCuin (10) and Denman (9) were the top point makers for Jacksonville.

The Indians (9-9) will open District 16-4A play at 1 p.m. (varsity tip-off time) on Friday by taking on the Mavericks in Marshall.
