Cross country season is just around the corner and the Jacksonville College men and women distance specialists have a challenging schedule lined up for them.
On Thursday JC head cross country coach Kirby Shepherd released the new schedule that features four meets in Texas and one in neighboring Louisiana.
The first competition of the fall will be a twilight meet in Longview.
LeTourneau University will be hosting the Nicole Leman Invitational, with the women getting under way at 6:45 p.m., followed by the men at 7:15 p.m..
On September 7 the JC runners will travel up to Commerce for the Texas A&M Commerce East Texas Shootout.
The Louisiana Border Dash, hosted by Bossier Parish (La.) Community College is slated for September 13, and will be another twilight affair.
JC Cross Country has three competitions on the calendar in October.
That group of meets includes regular season meets hosted by Our Lady of the Lady University in San Antonio on October 5 and the East Texas Baptist University Invitational in Marshall on October 11.
The OLLU event will take place at the Windcrest Golf Club, while the ETBU races will be staged at the Marshall City Arena.
The NJCAA Region XIV Championship will be hosted by Bossier Parish Community College on October 25 and will be an evening meet.
The women's 5K run will start at 5 p.m., with the guys' 8K race set to begin at 5:40 p.m.
The championship will take place at the South Bossier Course Recreational Complex.
Shepherd said that he will release the roster once registration is complete next month.
