Jacksonville drops 16-5A opener to Marshall, 64-55

JACKSONVILLE INDIANS BASKETBALL

MARSHALL — The District 16-5A campaign got under way on Friday at Maverick Gymnasium for the Jacksonville Indians and the Marshall Mavericks.

The Mavericks got the job done by stopping the Indians, 64-55.

Jacksonville (9-10, 0-1) will entertain Lufkin at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Devin McCuin led Jacksonville in scoring by pumping in 15 points.

Kameron Conwell and Johnathon Denman added 10 points apiece for the Tribe while Amad Juan Minifee chipped in eight.

The Mavs moved to 11-7, 1-0 following the win.
