The Jacksonville High School varsity boys soccer team pounded the Wildcats of Palestine 8-0 at the Tomato Bowl Tuesday night.

The Indians out shot Palestine 33-3. Josh Nannen got the scoring going early in the 14th minute. Abner Madrid crossed the ball into the box and Nannen went diving through the air and headed the ball over the Wildcat goalie. Robert Ray scored a short time later in the 19th minute. Nannen was on the assist end of Ray’s goal. Juan Compian scored in the 23rd minute with Patrick Burk recording the assist. Senior, Ronnie Rodgers, scored in the 30th minute when Nael Ziedan gave Rodgers a nice pass then Rodgers pounded the ball into the back of the net. The fifth goal of the first half was by Ziedan. Jonathan Sanders recorded the assist to Ziedan. The Indians took the commanding 5-0 lead into halftime.

Less than two minutes went by in the second half, when the Indians scored their sixth goal of the game. Alex Onofre scored with Moody Ziedan recording the assist. Cliff Perdue scored the final two goals of the game to give the Indians the 8-0 final score. The varsity improved to 4-1 in district play and 15-1-1 overall. The Indians travel to Lindale on Friday. Game times are set for 5:30 p.m. for the junior varsity and 7 p.m. for the varsity.

The JV-1 team also won, beating the Wildcats 5-1.

Jorge Flores scored in the second minute of the game with Cristobal Tavera recording the assist. Blake Glass scored the second goal in the 14th minute. Marco Sotelo scored in the 19th minute. Jose Moreira got the assist. Sotelo scored again with the fourth goal of the game with Tavera getting the assist in the 30th minute.

Palestine scored in the first half off a restart play.

Geranimo Madrano scored the Indians fifth and final goal of the game in the 68th minute. Sotelo recorded the assist. The JV improved to 6-3-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in district. The JV-1 team also travels to Lindale on Friday.
