JC soccer teams perform well in exhibition matches

In collegiate soccer exhibition play, the Jacksonville College Jaguars trounced Ranger College 4-0 on Saturday evening, while the Lady Jaguars and the Ranger women battled to a 1-1 draw.

The matches were played in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville is scheduled to travel to Tishomingo, Okla. on Thursday to launch the regular season with a doubleheader against Murray State (Okla.) College.

The Jags and Lady Jags will play in Jacksonville again on Aug. 27 against University Arkansas-Rich Mountain.

The women's match will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the men at 7 p.m.



Sevastian DeLeon, a freshman from Henderson, scored the Jags' first two goals, which gave the home team a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

JC goal keeper Andrei Demetrio (Brazil) earned an assist on the first goal, while Endy Lopez (Houston) had the assist on the second.

JC put the match out of reach when Christ Kiadingou (France) punched the ball into the net to open the scoring in the final segment.

Noriyuki Ito (Japan) had the assist on the play.

Ito then came back later and scored JC's final goal, with Guilherme Benites (Brazil) getting credit for the assist.



Marina Villanueva, a freshman who prepped at Jacksonville High School, scored the Lady Jags' only point on a penalty kick on the 95-degree day.
