JHS Basketball Maidens punish Marshall, 69-33

JACKSONVILLE FIGHTIN MAIDEN BASKETBALL

MARSHALL — Jacksonville moved to 3-0 in the District 16-5A standings on Friday afternoon by trouncing Marshall, 69-33, at Maverick Gymnasium.

The Jacksonville girls, who are 12-8 overall, return home on Tuesday to play Lufkin at 6:15 p.m.

Paving the path to victory for the Maidens was Grace Abercrombie, who dropped in 23 points, which included five buckets from beyond the arc.

Ka'Lessia Anderson had a successful return from the disabled list and ended up with 16 points.

Tykeria Tilley also connected for double figures, adding 11 points.

Scoring nine of the Fightin' Maidens points was Alexis Calderon.

Jacksonville led 37-26 after two quarters of action, but after the Fightin' Maidens out pointed the Lady Mavericks (8-10, 0-3) 21-5 in the third stanza, Jacksonville held the upper hand over the home team.

The Jacksonville girls have now won three of their last four games.
