The Jacksonville High School varsity and junior varsity cheer teams traveled to The Gaylord in Dallas on June 9-12 for the annual National Cheerleaders Association camp.

The Jacksonville cheerleaders have a history of winning quite a few awards at the annual camp and the 2018-19 cheer squads didn't disappoint.

The group returned home with the Camp Herkie award, NCA Nationals Bid, three superior ribbons, four spirit sticks and the Technical Excellence Award in Crowd Involvement.

Other plaudits included NFHS Squad Credentialing, six students being named All-American Cheerleaders and a half dozen senior squad members receiving invitations to tryout for the NCA staff.

Earning All-American status was Jordan Pollard (Captain), Chloie Devillier (Co-Captain), MaKenna Dement, Kathryn Smith, Kylie McCown, Jaycee Morton and Cameron Glass (mascot).

All-American cheerleaders must tryout in front of a panel of judges while at camp. They are judged on jumps, tumbling, spirit, and memory.
