JHS girls to open playoffs in Tyler on Monday

JACKSONVILLE FIGHTIN MAIDEN BASKETBALL

Playoff time will begin on Monday evening for the Jacksonville Fightin' Maiden basketball team.

The Fightin' Maidens, the District 16-5A champions, will play the winner of Friday night's District 15-5A play-in game between Lindale and Sulphur Springs, who ended the regular season earlier this week tied for fourth place in conference play.

The Class 5A, Region II bi-district test will tip off at 6:30 p.m. at Wagstaff Fieldhouse on the campus of Tyler Junior College.

The Fightin' Maidens, who are coached by Lynn Nabi (head coach), Ashley Tally and Travis Snyder, enter post season play having gone 14-0 in district.

The team is led by juniors Grace Abercrombie and Alexis Calderon, with seniors Ka'Lessia Anderson and Tamia Tucker also proving to be key to the team's success.

A Jacksonville victory on Monday would send the Fightin' Maidens to an Area round match up against either Cleburne or North Forney late next week.
