The Jacksonville High School soccer teams traveled to Center Tuesday night.

The Jacksonville junior varsity won its game by a score of 4-2. Brad Eyre scored the first goal shortly after kickoff to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. Jose Moreira scored the second goal on a pass from Ty Ross. Blake Glass scored the third goal of the first half with Ross again, getting the assist. Jacksonville went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Center did not lay down though, scoring two unanswered goals in the second half.

Josh Barcenas added the assurance goal for the Indians late in the game to give the JV its first win of the season.

The Jacksonville varsity, composed mostly of JV players, also brought home a win. The varsity improved to 10-0-1 on the year.

Center got on the board first after being awarded a penalty kick early in the game. Juan Compian made the save, but the shooter was awarded another try after Compian left his line too early. The second attempt was also blocked, but bounced of the goal post and the Center player blasted the ball into the back of the net.

Junior, Ryan Earle, scored the first goal for Jacksonville in the 18th minute. Abner Madrid recorded the assist. Andy Arreguin scored the go-ahead goal in the 21st minute and gave the Indians a 2-1 halftime lead.

In the 51st minute, Alejandro Cabrales scored the third goal on a pass from Marco Sotelo. Anthony Barcenas scored his first goal of the year in the 74th minute. Compian recorded the assist on Barcenas’ goal. The Indians’ varsity team has won seven games in a row.

Jacksonville played the Kilgore Bulldogs at the Tomato Bowl at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Friday. Results were not available as of press time. The Indians will travel to Athens Tuesday for their first district game.

Athens made it to the Regional Finals last year, so the Indians will have their work cut out for them. Game times are set for 5:30 and 7 p.m.
