Special to the Progress

The Jacksonville Maiden Soccer team hosted Center on Friday night and came away with a 4-0 win.

Carly Irby scored three goals with assists from Kelsi Brubaker, Kamie Minter, and Brittany Villanueva. Laura Mena scored off of an assist from Cynthia Quintana.

The Maidens are 8-4-1 in district play and are sitting in fourth place.

Friday night was also celebrated as Jacksonville Soccer Association Night. Several uniformed youth teams were represented.

“At halftime the Maidens divided the different teams in groups and were passing the ball around. I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of youth players that came out to the game and that are involved in youth soccer in Jacksonville,” said coach Howard Story.

The Maidens will travel to Lufkin Hudson Thursday to play a postponed game and then will play Diboll in the Tomato Bowl Friday at 6 p.m.
