BULLARD – As the orange moon was rising, Brook Hill quarterback, Garrett Esposito, and receiver Seth Moss were celebrating Friday the 13th, hooking up for five touchdowns to lead the Guard to a convincing 64-34 win over Huntington, at Young Field at Herrington Stadium, on Friday night.
Esposito was on-fire from the get-go, throwing for 380-yards, and seven touchdowns in the game, while Moss made nine grabs, for 268-yards in the game.
The 6’6 senior, Esposito was 9-for-9, for 126-yards in the opening quarter, starting with an 11-yard scoring pass to Carson Richards.
Moss then went to work, hauling in a 58-yard strike from Esposito, but a missed PAT boot made it 13-0, with 5:52 on the clock. Moss then added another 7-yard snag, and a Jake Shaffer PAT boot before Huntington finally got on the board.
Running back, Andrew Faulk plowed in from 3-yards out, and the Patrick Teer PAT kick was true for a 20-7 count after one period.
Guard receiver, David Roberts then caught his first of two TDs. The first from 30-yards, and the Shaffer kick was true.
The Red Devils added to their efforts with a 35-yard touchdown toss from Greg Chancellor to Tee Lane.
Moss added a 75-yard score, before Richards caught another 5-yard tally, and 42-14 scoreboard.
Huntington then came back in two plays to get an 80-yard score from Chancellor to Nick Paxson to add to the Red Devils 42-20 deficit.
As the half wound down, Shaffer booted his first of two field goals with 1:10 before the half, and 45-20 intermission.
It didn’t take a minute before Moss scored from 75-yards away, and the 26-yard Shaffer field goal built a 55-20 cushion, at the 10:02 mark.
Faulk bulled in for another Red Devil touchdown before the Guard defense got on the scoreboard.
A quick kick by Esposito nailed Huntington at the 1-yard line. On the first play, Galen Campbell tackled Faulk in end zone for the safety as the third quarter finished up with a 57-28 advantage.
Moss added his final score from back-up QB, Casper Engvist from 21-yards out, and the Shaffer PAT finished up the Guard scoring.
With eight-seconds left in the game, Chancellor ran in from 1-yard out, and the PAT run by the signal-caller capped off the 98-point game, 64-34.
The Guard (2-1), will have an open week before traveling to play Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound on Sept, 27. Huntington (0-3), will play host to Hampshire-Fannett next Friday.
