Offensive Player of the Week goes to Tribe's Carpenter

Chris Carpenter (3) of Jacksonville takes a hand off from Patrick Clater (12) during first half action in Jacksonville's 49-48 win over Palestine on Friday. Carpenter has been selected as the Jacksonville Progress Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2.

Jacksonville's come-from-behind 49-48 win over rival Palestine on Friday evening at Wildcat Stadium will remain etched into the memories of Indian fans for a long, long time.

In short, the Tribe (1-1), who trailed by 20 points at halftime, pulled out all the stops in the second half to outscore the home team, 28-7 and claim the win.

Carpenter showed those in attendance just why Colorado is so high on him. The Buffalo commit caught 11 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns to energize the Indian offense.

He also had two carries for 20 yards and came up with an interception while playing defense.

Carpenter and the rest of the Tribesmen will welcome Henderson (1-1) to town on Friday. Kick off at the Historic Tomato Bowl is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
