Olympic champion swimmer to speak at FBC Alto on Wednesday

ALTO — The First Baptist Church Alto will be hosting five-time Olympic medalist swimmer Josh Davis at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The public is invited to attend.

Davis, who is now the head swimming coach at Oklahoma Christian University, will be delivering a faith based message of encouragement to those in attendance, as the Alto community continues its recovery efforts from a devastating tornado that struck in April.

In 1996 Davis made history by becoming the only man in any sport from any nation at the Atlanta Olympic Games to win 3 gold medals. With a passion for representing our country, He returned to the Olympics in Sydney in 2000 where he was elected Captain of the USA Men's swim Team. Davis went on to break the American record three times in his event the 200 meter free-style and won two silver medals at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Davis has been involved with the ministry Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action for many years. At The University of Texas, he became president of FCA and started a life-long passion of sharing with others the reason for the hope he has in his own life. Davis communicates how important it has been for him to have a good head coach and how developing himself spiritually lead him to the best head coach ever!


Davis' address is expected to last about an hour.
