Rodeo: Area girls among leaders at IFYR

SHAWNEE, Okla. — When the book closed on Day 2 of the International Finals Youth Rodeo in Shawnee, Okla. on Monday night, two area girls remained in the top five in the first round standings in at least one event.

Reagan Davis of Alto currently is in second place in pole bending and she is in a tie, along with three additional young ladies, in breakaway roping.

In pole bending Davis was clocked in 20.253 seconds, while her time in breakaway roping is 2.6.

Only Jada Whittington (Idabel, Okla.) had a fast time (19.992) than Davis in pole bending.

Kristin Reaves, who is from Bullard, is in third place in goat tying, where she posted a clocking of 7.3.

In breakaway roping Reaves is tied for 12th place, owning a time of 2.8.

The top 15 contestants in each event will advance to the finals on Friday.

More than $250,000 in prize money, championship saddles, belt buckles and horse trailers top the prize list this year.
