Rusk 14U team a win away from winning state tournament

AXTELL — All that stands between the Rusk Eagles and and a state championship is one victory.

The Eagles will take on either Crawford-Chambers or the Chandler Warriors at 7 p.m. tonight in the Texas Teenage Baseball Association's 14U State Tournament, which has been unfolding in Axtell this week.

Crawford-Chambers and Chandler will play an elimination game at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to face the Eagles.

A Rusk win in the 7 p.m. fray would net Rusk the tournament title.

If Rusk should lose that game, the two clubs, each with a single loss, would face off again at 9:30 p.m., with the winner garnering the championship.

Rusk has cruised through tournament play so far; knocking off the Brownwood Padres on Monday, defeating Hillsboro-Lewis the following evening and prevailing over Crawford-Chambers on Wednesday night.
