Shelton, Leter get double doubles in JC's latest blowout win

JACKSONVILLE COLLEGE JAGUAR BASKETBALL

Freshmen Faybeyon Shelton (Houston, Eisenhower HS) and Dancel Lovings (Paramaribo, Suriname) chalked up double doubles to help send Jacksonville College to a 98-75 win over the Houston Gladiators on Monday evening at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse.

Shelton scored 15 points and hauled in 11 rebounds while Leter drained 11 points to go along with 14 boards and three assists.

Other Jaguars to connect for double digits included Braxton Lovings and Nicolas Gazelas, who popped in 19 apiece, Henry Hampton, who added 15 points and Lamarcus Donahue who tossed in 11.

Lovings also snatched down seven rebounds.

JC (2-0) enjoyed a 52-45 lead at halftime.

The Jags will play their first NJCAA competition beginning on Thursday in the East-West Challenge. The JC men will test Odessa College at 7 p.m. in Dallas and are scheduled to play Western Texas at 7 p.m. Friday and Howard College at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The latter two games will take place in Plano.
