The Texas Sports Writers Association released its Class 2A All-State football team late Tuesday and six Alto Yellowjackets were included on the prestigious list.

Cayle Irvin, a senior, was named to the first team at linebacker, following a vote by the state's sports writers.

The 6-foot, 218-pounder has signed with Bethel (Kan.) College.

Josh Castillo, a 6-foot-1, 295-pound offensive tackle, garnered second team mention from the scribes.

Castillo will also be playing football at the next level. Castillo signed with Bethany (Kan.) College last week.

Another member of the second team is senior offensive lineman Foster Hall (6'-3”, 200 lbs.). Hall has decided to continue his football and academic career at Concordia-Nebraska.

Three Yellowjackets, seniors Harmon West and Todd Duplichain, and junior Vi'Dareous High were named to the honorable mention squad.

West, a 6'-foot-1”, 205 linebacker, has signed with Texas San Antonio (NCAA, Division I) and Duplichain, a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive lineman, will be playing for East Texas Baptist University later this year.

High (6'-1”, 180 lb.) is a junior running back.

Alto finished 10-0 in the regular season in 2019 and was an Area finalist.

The Yellowjackets are coached by Ricky Meeks.
