Kansas-signee Tatum Goff was untouchable in the circle on Tuesday night when the Rusk Lady Eagles opened the season by shutting out Jacksonville, 3-0, at Fightin' Maiden Field.
Goff, a southpaw, stuck out every Maiden that she faced in going the distance to collect the win. She needed just 99 pitches to notch the no hitter against a Jacksonville squad that had five new starters in the line up.
The Lady Eagles collected seven hits in the game, with Emmy Shaw and Grace Young leading the way with 2 for 3 efforts.
Young stroked a double and drove in a run while Shaw scored a run.
Abbie Pepin and Lauren Boudreaux each doubled for Rusk, with Boudreaux coming around to score.
Kailee Milsap had Rusk's remaining hit.
The Lady Eagles plated single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh frames.
Saylor Williams went the distance and was the losing pitcher of record for Jacksonville. She walked three and struck out five.
On Thursday through Saturday Rusk will be playing in the Carrollton Tournament, while the Maidens compete in the Bullard Tournament.
