Softball: Jacksonville, Bullard standouts named to all-state teams

LONGVIEW — A handful of young ladies from Jacksonville High School and Bullard High School have been voted onto their respective all-state teams by members of the Texas Sports Writers Association.

In Class 5A, four Jacksonville Fightin' Maidens garnered honorable mention plaudits on the Collin Street Bakery's All-State unit.

That group included Saylor Williams, pitcher; Emily Moreira, first baseman; Jordyn Whitaker, third baseman and center fielder Gracie Jackson, a Paris Junior College signee.

The Fightin' Maidens are coached by Brittney Batten.

Bullard's Lady Panthers had a formidable array of players voted onto the Class 4A all-state team.

Outfielder Aspyn Grossman led the way by being a second team choice.

Grossman will be playing softball at Galveston College in the fall.

Earning spots onto the honorable mention list was Ariel Matula, pitcher; Gabby Nichols, shortstop; Jolee Dixon, catcher and third baseman Sydney Foster.

Bullard is coached by Megan Dobrinski.
