Softball: Jacksonville Texas A&M wins opener in state tourney

CORSICANA — Jacksonville Texas A&M smoked the Salado Aftershock, 16-6, Monday evening in the team's opening round game in the Texas Teenage Softball Association Girls U10 state tournament.

The Jacksonville girls advance to face Corsicana Sassy Bats, who polished off the Rice Bulldogs on Monday night.

Jacksonville Texas A&M team members include Alyssa Chavez, Zadasha Redd, Kendi Canady, Kamyah Lacy, Azleigh Powell and Eliza Trujillo.

Also included on the roster are Kaydee Douglas, Karie Rogers, Ryan Ramirez, Emily Sims, TaShiyah Johnson, Mia Guillen and Lauren Shults.

The team is coached by Robert Ramirez and Roel Ramirez.

The double elimination tournament is being hosted by the Corsicana Girls Softball Association.
