Bullard sophmore-sensation, Minta Spears, scored 10 points from the free throw line in overtime to lead the Lady Panthers to a 44-37 win over Waco LaVega in a Class 3A, Region III quarterfinal game played at Fairfield High School Monday night.

Spears, led all scorers with 22 points, including going 13-of-15 from the line. Brittany Norwood canned 14 points for the Lady Pirates, who end their season at 28-5.

The Lady Panthers (29-8) now move on to face Bryan Rudder (30-9) in a regional semi-final to be played at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville at 8 p.m. Friday night.

The Bullard defense turned in a stong effort by holding LaVega to four points in the overtime segment as well as allowing the Lady Pirates to score just four points in both the first and third periods.

Christina Hatten added seven points for Bullard.
