Standley has banner day at the plate

Katelyn Standley a sophomore and product of Jacksonville by way of Troup High School, went 3-7, with seven RBI in the Ladyjacks' 12-4, 14-13, double header sweep over Abilene  Christian on Friday in Abilene.

ABILENE — Stephen F. Austin State University swept a Southland Conference doubleheader over Abilene Christian University on Friday and Jacksonville-product Katelyn Standley figured into the winning mix in a significant way.

Standley, a sophomore and a graduate of Troup High School, combined to go 3-for-7 at the plate with seven RBI on Friday during SFA's 12-4 (6 innings) and 14-13 wins over ACU at Poly Wells Field.

SFA also won the third and final contest over the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, giving the Ladyjacks their first conference series sweep of the season.

Standley had one hit in four official trips to the plate in the SFA victory.

SFA improved to 15-26, 7-10 SLC with the victories, while ACU dropped to 9-29, 3-15.

The Ladyjacks open a lengthy home stand at 2 p.m. Wednesday by hosting Louisiana-Monroe for a non-district doubleheader.

Standley is the daughter of Jeff and Cheryl Standley of Jacksonville.
