Jacksonville Middle School 8th grade “A” team walloped Tyler Three Lakes, 29-18 at the Historic Tomato Bowl this week.
Jermaine Taylor scored three touchdowns to pace the Braves to victory. The highlight of the night for Taylor came on a 98-yard touchdown trek.
JMS’s feature back, Jayden Boyd, also had a touchdown.
Another breathtaking play was turned in by Karmelo Clairborne, who picked off a Three Lakes 2-point conversion attempt and returned it 102 yards, giving JMS the two points instead.
On the defensive side the Braves kept Three Lakes out of the end zone via a well executed goal line stand.
This coming week JMS 8th grade teams will be at CHRISTUS-TMF Rose Stadium to face Hubbard Middle School.
8th “B”: — Three Lakes 14, JMS 8 — Walker Dublin scored the touchdown for the home team. The defensive play of the game was made by Noah Hill who picked off a Three Lakes pass.The Braves’ coaching staff recognized the play of William Alexander, Xavier Kendrick and Misael Antonio.
7th “A”: Three Lakes 30, JMS 14 — Despite missing several players the Braves battled throughout. Elijah Harris scored on an onside kick return and Michael Taylor also scored a touchdown for JMS. Reginald Sirls drilled an extra point for the Braves. JMS coaching staff also noted the leadership displayed by Brady McCown.
7th “B”: Three Lakes 30, JMS 0 — JMS was shutout in the loss to Three Lakes. Two players giving noteworthy efforts were Dakota Smith and Dezarrick Sessions.
