Tomato Fest 4 vs. 4 Soccer Tournament: JSA clubs put skills on display

Jacksonville Soccer Association (JSA) teams enjoyed a fruitful weekend playing on their home fields in the Tomato Fest 4 vs. 4 Tournament.

This year's tourney was held on the natural grass fields at the spacious JSA Soccer Complex on Byrd Road.

Last year the tourney took place at Cook Field on the Jacksonville High School campus.

Local boy's teams racked up three first-place finishes as well as a runner up title.

In the U6 division JSA Liverpool topped Palestine YMCA Cyclones, 3-0, in the title match.

The JSA boys advanced to the finals after going 3-0 in pool play.

The JSA Gunnars won the championship in the U7 segment by blanking the Henderson Soccer Association Elite, 1-0, in the finals.

The Gunners posted a 2-0-1 worksheet in pool play.

In the U19 division, the Jacksonville Club de Futbol team went 3-1 and rolled up 29 points to edge the Snowflakes, who had 28 points.

The JSA Rayaditos were nipped, 2-1, by the Longhorns in the championship game of the U9 segment.

Other divisional winners included Angelina Youth Soccer (U8), Tyler Soccer Association Mustangs (U10), BARCA (U11), East Texas Football Club 07 B. Gonzalez (U12) and Football Club Dallas SETX (U16).

In girl's action the JSA Storm clipped the Football Club Dallas Outkasts, 4-3, to win first place in the U9 grouping.

Posting a 4-0 record, the JSA Sting claimed bragging rights in the U12 grouping.

The remaining divisional winners were: Palestine YMCA PPG (U8), East Texas Football Club-Ledesma (U16) and the Athens Hornets in the U19 bracket. The Hornets went 3-0 in tourney play.
