Troup boys upset by Gladewater

GLADEWATER — The Bears from Gladewater roared back in the second half to upset Troup, 43-42, on Tuesday in Gladewater.

Troup played its best basketball in the opening 16 minutes of play were it owned a 25-12 lead.

The Bears came out in the third frame and outscored Troup 17-7 to shave the Tiger's advantage to three points going into the fourth period.

Clayton Vickers fired in 13 points for Troup and Bracey Cover added 12, which included two buckets from behind the arc.

Grayson Driggs finished with eight points, Logan Womack scored five and Blake Wood contributed four.

The Bears were led in scoring by Eli Cates and Kris Reese with 14 points apiece.

The Tigers (20-9, 5-3) are in third place in the District 16-3A standings, while Gladewater (6-8, 3-5) is presently in sixth place.

Troup will journey to Sabine (11-12, 4-4) on Friday evening.
