Troup clips Sabine, 42-41; Frazier hits game winning trey


TROUP — Kedrick Frazier didn't make but one 3-pointer on Tuesday evening, but, boy what a huge basket it was.

With 18 ticks showing on the clock, Frazier uncorked a triple that hit its mark, giving Troup a 42-41 District 16-3A victory over Sabine.

The Tigers then made a key defensive stop to secure the win and send the Tiger faithful home with a smile on their faces.

High scorer for Troup was Grayson Driggs with 14. Frazier followed by netting eight points.

Bracey Cover and Clayton Vickers added six points apiece, Blake Wood scored five and Matthew Castillo wound up with three.

The Tigers led 35-31 going into the final frame.

The Tigers canned six 3-pointers, compared to the Cardinals' four.

Sabine was led in scoring by Savory Goodwyn with 15 points.

Troup is now 17-6 overall. 2-0 in conference play. The Cardinals slipped to 7-10, 0-2.

The Tigers will visit White Oak at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
