Troup defense clamps down on Raiders in 48-25 win

TROUP — The Troup Tigers delivered a top shelf defensive performance on Tuesday evening by besting West Rusk, 48-25, at Tiger Gymnasium.

The Tigers (24-9, 9-3) held the Raiders to single digits in three of the four frames and limited West Rusk (18-12, 5-7) to just 11 points in the second half.

Scoring 16 and 11 points, respectively, Clayton Vickers and Kedrick Frazier were the high point makers for the Tigers.

Bracey Cover added eight and Matthew Castillo fired in seven.

Troup also tasted victory in the junior varsity game, winning 31-24.

With two regular season games left on the docket, Troup is in second place in the District 16-3A standings.

Troup will host league-leading Arp at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
