Troup goes down to defeat to Elkhart, 42-14

TROUP — Cade Starr, Elkhart's senior quarterback, proved to be the star of the Elks' show on Friday when Elkhart handed Troup a 42-14 defeat at Tiger Stadium.

With the game tied 7-7, Starr found his rhythm by throwing consecutive touchdown passes covering 22, 36, 51, and 54 yards, respectively, as the Elks blew the game wide open.

Ty Williams, also a senior, had touchdown grabs of 22 and 54 yards for the Elks.

Messiah Birdlow had three catches for 1-2 yards to spark Elkhart, while Williams tallied 82 receiving yards.

Starr accounted for 244 yards (190 passing, 54 rushing).

Troup quarterback Jordan Elliott racked up 196 yards rushing on 21 carries. He went 9-of-30 through the air for 96 yards.

Elliott's numbers would have even better had several drops not occurred.

Elkhart led 14-7 at the break with the Tiger touchdown coming on an Elliott to Max Hale pass that covered 10 yards.

The Elks improve to 3-0 with the win, while the Tigers slip to 1-2.
