TYLER — Jacksonville finished in second place in the team standings (large school division) of the Tyler Lee-UT-Tyler Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
Rockwall took home the team gold with 73 points, followed by Jacksonville with 83 points and Tyler Lee (137).
Sixteen schools had teams entered.
In the small school division Troup's Lady Tigers won fourth place in the team standings.
The Lady Tigers garnered 166 points.
Schools finished ahead of Troup were Mineola (54), Crandall (90) and Canton (100).
Bullard (260) came in eighth place while Rusk (510) took the 20th position.
The number of schools that entered full teams totaled 22.
Taylor Gutierrez was the sixth young lady to finish the race. The sophomore posted a time of 20:14.24 to pace the Maidens.
Other Maidens whose times went toward the team total included Reyna Munoz (14th, 21:06.77), Alexia Davis (20th, 21:40.01), Lesly Munoz (27th, 22:02.96) and Michelle Medellin (29th, 22:14.43).
Meanwhile Lixsel Vega came in 59th place, Dayana Munoz ran 89th and Tori Snyder came in at 114th, Rebecca Toledo and Naomi Beale also completed the race for Jacksonville.
In the small school segment, the race was contested over a two mile course.
Freshman Danielle Puckett (13:40.80) finished in 22nd place and was the first Lady Tiger to cross the finish line.
Next was Sarah Neel (29th, 14:01.24) and Marigold Hunter (35th, 14:04.48).
Meredith Howell came in 53rd (14:24.66).
Hadley Derrick ended up in 70th place after being timed in 14:44.90.
Note: Emily Berry, a Bullard senior, ran a 12:33.08 and took sixth place. Alyssa Hardy's 66th place effort was the best among the Rusk Lady Eagle runners.
