Volleyball: Fightin' Maidens stop Nac in 4 sets

Kristin Gonzalez, pictured as she prepared to serve the ball during a recent match, had 12 digs, two aces and a kill in Jacksonville's 3-1 win over Nacogdoches on Friday evening.

Ka'Lessia Anderson racked up 13 kills to propel Jacksonville to a 3-1 (26-24, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14) victory over Nacogdoches in a District 16-5A match that took place on Friday night at the John Anderson Gymnasium.

The win was the Fightin' Maidens' second district win of the season.

Anderson also had three blocks and a couple of digs.

Tykeria Tilley and Maegan Holliday also had big nights from the offensive side. Tilley pitched in eight kills, three digs and five service aces while Holliday added five kills, 14 digs and four aces.

Jacksonville's assist leader was Ashley Freeney (23). She also tossed in 15 digs and three aces.

Lauryn Johnson amassed 11 digs and four aces while Kristen Gonzalez ha a spike, 12 digs and two aces.

Jacksonville will travel to John Tyler on Tuesday. The varsity match should get under way around 6:30 p.m.
