Volleyball: Rusk downs Henderson 3-2 in opener

RUSK — In a back-and-forth match, Rusk closed with a band and defeated Henderson, 3-2, in the season opener on Tuesday at Eagle Coliseum.

The Lady Lions won the first set, 25-23, with the Lady Eagles coming back to capture the second set, 25-17.

It was all Henderson in the third game, with the Lady Lions coasting to a 25-13 triumph.

Rusk then seemed to get on track by taking the remaining sets, 25-19, 15-13 to salvage the victory.

The Lady Eagles' roster features five seniors (Grace Young, Jaylei Wick, Kailee Millsap, Jamyah Anderson and Haley Hancock) this year.

Rusk (1-0) will be competing in the Palestine Tournament beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday with a match against White Oak.
